Iceland with a Focus on Birds and Nature - 12 Days
arrow_backTo the overviewJoin us on a journey where we follow the lives of birds and experience some of Iceland’s most beautiful and unspoiled nature. This tour is designed for everyone who loves birds, but we will also experience much more than that.
Throughout the journey, we are accompanied by two knowledgeable tour leaders: Peter Lange, one of Denmark’s most experienced bird experts, and K. Torben Rasmussen, who has lived in Iceland for several years and shares his extensive knowledge of the country’s history, culture, and society.
We seek out the bird-rich areas of northeastern Iceland, where we can expect to see around 60–65 different species. Among the guaranteed highlights are specialties such as Harlequin Duck, Barrow’s Goldeneye, Red-necked Grebe, and Icelandic Black-tailed Godwit. Seabirds such as Common Guillemot, Atlantic Puffin, Northern Gannet, and Northern Fulmar are also on the program - and with a bit of luck, we may even catch a glimpse of a Gyrfalcon or a Long-tailed Skua.
The plant life of nature will also be in focus. Here we find, among other things, beautiful orchids such as the Calypso Orchid and Greenland Frog Orchid, as well as hardy dwarf shrubs and colorful flowers that thrive in the harsh mountain environment.
A journey for those who wish to experience the raw landscapes of the Highlands, the diversity of birdlife, and gain a deeper insight into Iceland’s history and culture - all in good company.
