Faroe Islands – Art, Church, and Nature - 7 days
arrow_backTo the overviewJoin us on an immersive journey to the Faroe Islands, with a focus on art, church life, literature, and nature. You will meet local personalities who invite you close to Faroese culture. We step into artistic and historical circles and out into the beautiful Faroese landscape.
The Faroe Islands consist of 18 islands and have a population of just over 56,000. A few years ago, the country was named the world’s most beautiful island community — and for good reason. A trip to the Faroe Islands is a truly magnificent experience.
We stay centrally in Tórshavn and enjoy a guided tour of Tinganæs, the medieval parliamentary site. We visit the Lagtinget (the Faroese Parliament), the Faroe Islands’ modern art museum, the Nordic House, and more.
During the trip we travel around the islands, visiting the towns of Eiði, Gjógv, Klaksvík, Gøta, and the beautifully situated Runavík. We explore art both in churches and in museums, and we visit a modern knitwear designer inspired by nature and the traditional Faroese sweater.
We go on excursions to the islands of Sandoy and Suðuroy and, of course, also visit the royal farmhouse in Kirkjubøur with the Magnus Cathedral.
A special highlight is the included “Kingo singing,” a guided tour with a local storyteller in the small village of Tjørnuvík, followed by an exciting village-hall dinner with local dishes, enjoyed in the company of the residents of Tjørnuvík.
The entire trip is led by Anette Jensen. She has visited the Faroe Islands many times, both as a professional tour guide and privately. Her local contacts help add extra flavor to the journey.
It will be seven intense days in the Faroe Islands that will leave you uplifted and inspired — and a little wiser.
