Central Iceland toward the West - 11 Days
arrow_backTo the overviewExperience the true Iceland as you first head north to the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, renowned for its incredibly beautiful and varied landscapes. Here you will find everything Iceland has to offer gathered in one place - from untouched lava fields and towering volcanoes to glaciers and much more. The Snæfellsjökull Glacier, made world-famous through Jules Verne’s classic Journey to the Center of the Earth, is said to possess a special magic, and when you stand at the foot of the glacier, you will understand why.
The extraordinary natural scenery continues on toward the Westfjords. The Westfjords are among Iceland’s most remote and unspoiled regions - a true must see. Here, sheer cliffs and mountains rise dramatically above the Atlantic Ocean. You will have the opportunity to experience one of Iceland’s most beautiful waterfalls - Dynjandi.
The journey then continues into central Iceland - the Highlands. The Highlands are something entirely unique: a raw and untouched world of black sand deserts, glacial rivers, and colorful rhyolite mountains. Have you ever dreamed of what it would be like to drive on the moon? That is exactly how it feels to cross the Highlands. Together with your local guide, this becomes an unforgettable journey through Iceland’s most spectacular natural landscapes.
This journey thus takes you to some of Iceland’s most remote and magnificent regions - combined with several of the greatest natural highlights of West Iceland and central Iceland.
