Sister cities Bremen and Bremerhaven inspire with history
and innovation, outlook and vision
Two cities - one country. The sister cities of Bremen and Bremerhaven impress their visitors with unusual insights into fascinating worlds of knowledge, unusual views of maritime and historical sights and a great deal of foresight in art and culture. Together, they make up Germany's smallest federal state, but are big when it comes to innovation and quality of life.
Bremen - more than just a fairy tale
1,200 years of tradition and cosmopolitanism characterize Bremen, the Hanseatic city on the Weser. The magnificent town hall in the Weser Renaissance style and the venerable figure of Roland (UNESCO World Heritage Site) on the historic market square remain unmistakable landmarks. And of course there are the world-famous Bremen Town Musicians from the Brothers Grimm fairy tale. They are known the world over and are probably the best ambassadors for the Hanseatic city. They are likeable, adventurous, supportive and innovative - just like Bremen!
But Bremen is much more than just fairy tales. It is Germany's most popular cycling city, a center for space travel and a city on the river. This is where tradition meets modernity, where a pristine quality of life meets North German coziness. Bremen is the city of short distances. Nowhere else are history, culture and lifestyle so closely interwoven as here, often just a stroll away.
