Mobil MD-80 Cockpit
Mobil MD-80 Cockpit is a non-commercial project dedicated to promoting interest, knowledge and understanding of aviation.
Behind the project is Claus as owner, constructor and instructor, who through more than 15 years of development has created a full-size MD-80 cockpit simulator installed in a caravan. This makes it possible to transport an advanced full-size simulator to the public and make it publicly accessible.
The project is run in close collaboration with DAX - Diamond Air Xpress, a Danish virtual airline established in 2005, which operates with flight simulators and emphasizes realism and social relations. This collaboration ensures an authentic experience with focus on professional flight procedures.
With over 3000 completed flights, Mobil MD-80 Cockpit offers entertaining experiences where visitors get behind today’s locked cockpit doors and can experience a DC-9-style cockpit.
A short flight with instruction takes approximately 20 minutes.
Additionally, full-day events with in-depth instruction are also arranged for those who wish for a more comprehensive experience.

Jesper Fuglsang Nielsen
Co-founder of the virtual airline DAX - Diamond Air Xpress.
DAX is exclusively a virtual airline, which means that there are no physical aircraft in the company - i.e., all flights are performed via PC flight simulators. DAX “pilots” are passionate aviation enthusiasts who fly planned virtual routes from their home PCs in flight simulator programs. It’s all online with a worldwide network where pilots are guided by other enthusiasts who act as air traffic controllers, exactly like in the real world. In DAX, our goal is to promote interest in aviation in general but especially commercial aviation. We do this by trying to recreate the daily life and atmosphere of the flights we operate at DAX as close to the real world as we feel is possible to recreate - with the conditions that come with it when daily life outside DAX also has to be attended to. DAX is for everyone, and we place great emphasis on including and integrating both the youngest and the “veterans”. Our vision is therefore that everyone who is just interested and wants to spread their knowledge - or is passionate about aviation and the social interaction both in the cockpit and on the ground, whether you are an experienced pilot or an enthusiast, should have the opportunity to get “air” under their wings - but virtually. We pride ourselves on creating such a good and cozy atmosphere and environment - both virtually and when we meet. For this reason, we have no requirements or limitations for our members.
